My Story

My name is Isla Dawahare and this is my personal photo blog, which I started at the age of 10 in late 2022. I was first inspired to take up photography after a lesson on Ansel Adams. At first, I started taking pictures of the nature around me and then I started to enjoy taking photos of animals, especially my pets. Many people find animals to be a hard subject to work with, but I find them the most rewarding.

I continued taking photos of animals, and I still do, but my interests started to expand in 2023- I started doing professional family photo shoots and headshots. And in April of 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph the purple carpet for the opening night of the two-time Tony award winning Broadway musical Suffs. You can check out my purple carpet photos in my portfolio. After Suffs, I continued to expand my photography skills and learn and grow. I now volunteer at a local animal shelter to photograph their adoptable animals, which is something that I absolutely love. I also have begun to have more consistent opportunities doing family photos, events, dance photos, senior photos, and headshots, and I've had the opportunity to photograph five more Broadway red carpets since Suffs, as well as photographing actors backstage at Broadway and regional theatres. I've continued to gain experience and expand my portfolio in performance, event, family, senior/graduation, and even wedding photography.
